This is Thais
Hello, my name is Thais Wise. I am the mother of three really cool children and the wife of an amazing local firefighter. I have been a vegetarian, and more recently a vegan since I was 18 years old. I have lived in Oak Cliff Texas for 28 years. I am a seeker of information and have always been driven to understand myself, others and the world around me. The pursuit of understanding brings with it the benefit of cultivating empathy. I consider this my superpower.
I grew up in Cedar Hill Texas. It was a very small town back then and I had a childhood filled with playing in creeks and running through pastures. Back then a child could be free to explore and let their imagination run wild. I was always creating. That practice gifted me a seat at Booker T. Washington High School in the Visual Arts Conservatory. I had been making art my whole life. I then went on to college in upstate New York to Alfred University. Although I went to study ceramic arts, the hot glass studio stole me away. I graduated with a degree in Hot Glass sculpture. It didn't take me long to realize that being an artist meant not having my bills paid at times. I also discovered that I am way too meticulous for guesswork on the fundamentals in life. So I went to cosmetology school as a means to support myself. I have cut hair for 25 years now.
Spending time with my clients has afforded me an intimate look into people, the world and its events, and the passing of time. Since I can practically do hair with my eyes closed at this point, I am mostly just excited about whom I will get to visit with on any given day. All along I have continued to be creative throughout my life. Photography, bookmaking, and sewing have held my attention. Most recently I en-devoured to write a book as a challenge for myself. I did it! Though I have not tried to publish it yet, it stands as a symbol of what I am capable of when I set my mind to something. I continue to broaden my understanding of writing as a craft. This website was set up as a place to showcase, practice and develop my creativity in whatever form I fancy. I hope my ideas and experiences will be both entertaining and useful.
